Handcrafted unique contemporary bead jewellery for all occasions, designed and made in Lancashire by Samantha Taylor.

Design gem has been created from my long love of beads, gems and jewellery. Like a magpie, I have always been drawn to beautiful and unusual beads and began collecting them in a small way during my travels in my early twenties, this has intensified over the last few years, especially antique murano glass and crystal beads. I try to give some of my vintage beads a new lease of life and a contemporary twist in my jewellery designs.

My jewellery making began as a hobby over 20 years ago and during the past 6 years I have developed my skills further, experimenting with different types of jewellery making and also gained various jewellery making and silversmith qualifications at college.

I worked in design for a number of years before moving into teaching. I now work part-time as a freelance jewellery making teacher and run my own jewellery making 1 day courses at venues in Lancashire; Cedar Farm Mawdesley and Samlesbury Hall, nr Preston. I also teach jewellery making classes at adult education colleges; weekly courses at Lancashire College, Chorley and 1 day courses at Burton Manor College in Cheshire. I get a lot of pleasure and satisfaction from passing on my knowledge and experience, encouraging my students’ creativity with beads and helping them develop their jewellery making skills.
