RAW ART by Rebecca Ann Wilmer
(contemporary, abstract and landscape artist)

RAW ART has stemmed from my research and development of my interests in nature and natural organic objects. As well as ‘RAW’ being my initials this identity accurately describes my artwork which is largely based on examining colour, form and texture in the natural environment. My paintings are highly textured and layered using diluted acrylics and mixed media through organic, matt colours.

I studied at the University of Central Lancashire where I developed my art skills through a BA(Hons) degree in surface pattern and a MA degree in ceramics. At my art studio at Backridge Farm, near Waddington, I have specialised these skills through close-up photography, abstract and contemporary canvas work, ceramics and more currently a range of paintings based on my interpretation of the dramatic landscapes of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.

My work can be seen in collections throughout the North of England and a permanent collection of my canvas work can be seen in the Furniture Room at Gisburn, of which I have recently sold work to Vicky Chapman (cast of Coronation Street).
