Pam Potter was born in Penrith Cumbria. She was educated in Southport
and trained in Fine art with Textiles at the Harris College Preston
where her work in textiles was selected for the general British
Colleges touring exhibition in 1963. She obtained a BA Hons at The
university of Central Lancashire in 1996 in Art History and Education.
Her pictures have been exhibited in both solo and joint shows at
top venues in the North West and Cumbria, with many prizes awarded.
Her work has also been shown in London, France and the United States.
Work using watercolour, mixed media and collage shows an interest
in colour, texture, line and light on a variety of forms and subjects.
Her latest work has shown a further development of the landscape,
buildings and coastal subjects using experimental techniques of
mixed media with drawing. The representation of a scene turns into
a fantasy of the mind through colour and texture interweaving with
the experiment and unexpected. Paint straight from the tube, sprays,
rollers, scratching, tissues, inks modelling pastes and gesso all
help to achieve the desired result.
She has retired from working as a lecturer in fine art in further
education, in order to give more time to painting. She serves on
several art committees, and demonstrates her work and holds workshops
throughout the North West, and in partnership she organises art
promotion events.
