Celebrating 25 years!
"As Chair of the Art and Craft Guild of Lancashire I am
delighted that the Guild has reached this milestone Silver Anniversary.
To put the icing on the cake we have just opened our brand new “Gallery
at the Wharf” at Burscough Bridge, so the Guild now has a
permanent home. We run as a co-operative, and it is that co-operation,
determination and willingness to work together that has enabled
us to finally achieve our dream of having our own Gallery. Here’s
looking forward to the next 25 years!"

Guild members,
Christine Corthorn,
Joyce Ellis,
Malcolm Mentha,
Pam Potter,
and Ally Noble,
represented the Guild and showcased their work at the free 'Lord
Street Celebrates Visual Arts' weekend in Southport
The Guild had two tents in the gardens on Lord Street to promote
our organization and work. As such I wasn’t expecting much
but, be it Sefton Council’s advertising, or the good weather,
we were busy for two days. Other activities brought the public in
such as having a cartoon drawn, throwing a pot, having your face
painted and making a collage (which was very
popular). There were demonstrations too, and a wide range of
other artists in attendance to discuss their work. They were all
local and of a high standard. We had many visitors who were interested,
chatty, craft aware AND had money to spend. Plus we had two lovely
sunny days. On the negative side it was a pain having to take down
and put up each day. As at “Art and Garden” thick stair
rods fell from the sky exactly at packing up time at the end of
trading on Saturday! A personal bug bear was one CD ALL day Saturday.
I will NEVER listen to Fleetwood Mac
Rumours ever again! Sunday was more varied and played at lesser
volume. Sefton Council workers were a great,
even though they weren’t being paid they were helpful and
enthusiastic and even laughed when literally soaked to the skin
taking the tents down on Saturday. Finally I have to mention a huge
thanks to all the supporting Guild members (plus Sally not in the
picture), who put up a good show and made the event really great
fun. As you can see by the picture, it was a lovely weekend!
