I was born in Southport and am self-taught. A love of symmetry
and the colours of autumn and winter run through much of my work.
Some has a semi-abstract feel. Amongst my favourite subjects are
landscapes and historic transport. The beauty of the English Lakes,
Howgill Fells, Yorkshire Dales and the Scottish Highlands has a
special appeal. When abroad it is Italy. My images are not usually
planned - just seen and taken. I have remained with traditional
film to date and use no digital manipulation or filters.
My photographs have been displayed nationally and internationally
in many exhibitions. Amongst publications to have featured my work
are “Amateur Photographer” (oldest public photography
magazine in the world); “Lancashire Life” and “The
Craftsman”.
Major UK organisations such as British Aerospace, United Utilities
and distinguished hotels and restaurants have purchased my work,
and commissions welcomed and undertaken for many private clients.
In the past few years I have held exhibitions at Towneley Hall,
Lancashire and The Theatre by the Lake, Keswick and have featured
in several exhibitions by the Royal Photographic Society and similar
bodies. Invitations to exhibit in Tuscany and RHS Tatton have also
been received. Until quite recently I ran an arts/crafts gallery
(ABC Gallery) at one of Bill Oddie's favourite places - WWT Martin
Mere near Burscough, Lancs. I am hoping to relocate some work locally
in the not too distant future, and presently display some of my
own work in several other establishments.
I have been awarded the distinction of Licentiateship of the Royal
Photographic Society (LRSP). I am a member of the RPS as well as
the Art & Craft Guild of Lancashire.
