I qualified several years ago at the University of Central Lancashire
with a BA Honours degree in Tableware. I have recently completed
my MA at the same university in Ceramics. I am an active member
of Northern Potters and the Art and Craft Guild of Lancashire.
Currently my work comprises of functional vessels in both stoneware
and earthenware.
The work I produce is hand made contemporary stoneware and earthenware
intended for everyday use. Focus is placed on function, form, and
surface pattern.
The inspiration for my glazes expresses the movement in the seasons,
along with hot and sunny summer holidays.
I aspire to incorporate traditional skills with practical design.
Variation in the design is encouraged, with the result that each
piece is completely individual. Valuing the individuality of each
piece of work and the practicality, use and utility, each piece
will work as an independent piece or part of a set.
The form, function and aesthetic significance of the work places
it in the context of today – progressive and challenging.
Designed to give pleasure in daily use.
