I've always had a love of shiny things and began making simple
jewellery when I was 16. Now, nearly 20 years on, my designs have
advanced, pieces have become much more intricate, and my hobby has
become my passion. I use various metals, mainly sterling silver
and copper, but I’m happy to utilize any material that comes
to hand, with rarely a day passing without the conception of a new
design.
My jewellery contains many contradictions; I have a deep appreciation
of pattern & form, symmetry & tessellation, I am also beguiled
by serendipity, chance, free-form & unpredictability. There
is no single major influence in my jewellery. Ethnic cultures, the
natural, industrial and technological worlds through the ages all
have had some bearing on my designs and continue to intrigue and
inspire me.
Being spontaneous creatively is important to me. I rely heavily
on my natural instinct and a piece is complete only when it feels
"right".
I'm always keen to add new skills to my repertoire, the most recent
of which is glass work. The movement of the molten glass both mesmerises
& exhilarates me and I’m eagerly anticipating the designs
I will produce as my expertise develops.
I love creating jewellery and I believe my enthusiasm and love
for what I do is reflected in my finished pieces.
