For as long as can remember I have enjoyed drawing and making things.
For that reason I have tried to spend as much time doing exactly
that. Like anything, the more you do the better you become and the
more you enjoy it!!
I love the process of creating something out of nothing and if other
people appreciate it to then it’s a bonus.
Since leaving university in 1996 I have worked freelance as an
illustrator and designed furniture for several manufacturing companies.
In 1999 I took a year off to travel the world during which I continued
to draw by documenting the trip in sketch form. After a brief return
to the drawing board my son was born in 2002. I now live an idyllic
life with my son & two pigmy goats, working from my cottage
in the Forest of Bowland, doing something I really love.
My specialist subjects are Architecture, Flora and Fauna although
over the years I have painted a multitude of topics, from television
personalities to old fashioned telephone boxes. I usually work in
fine line ink and watercolour but also take mural commissions. One
of my most recent was a 16x8’ jungle scene and although a
challenge proved very successful.
I think the style of my drawing comes from my technical training.
Although my pieces are usually very detailed I don’t like
them to be cluttered or fussy, I try to create a flow to the piece.
I feel that the spaces are as important as the subjects featured
and try to limit the number of colours I use.
The majority of my work is private commission for clients wanting
their property (commercial and domestic) or special venue painting
(e.g. Church / Holiday Home). I have recently set up Picture Box,
a commission voucher gift service, I also make personalized stationary
for special events (e.g. Christenings, Weddings and Launch Parties).
My Website was launched on 1st March 2007.
