Gabrielle Caul is an artist living and working in south Liverpool, specialising in painting on silk. Gay draws much of her inspiration for her paintings from the natural world and incorporates organic shapes in her work. Gay loves to paint on silk due to the vibrancy that can be achieved in the colour. She loves the translucent quality of the silk, the way the paint flows on the fabric and the colour blending that can be achieved. Silk painting allows a boldness to emerge in the paintings which she would find difficult to achieve in other media. Gay is a member of the international Guild of Silk Painters, the Art and Craft Guild of Lancashire and is featured on the Selected site of Craftsman Magazine. The paintings develop the form and colour of the subject in a unique
way, capturing its essence in a very contemporary format.
